CITES CoP18 Side Event: Building Global Expertise and Cooperation through the CITES Master’s Course

CoP18 provides an opportunity for Parties and collaborating partner institutions from around the world the change, every two years, to meet together and exchange lessons, successes and failures on efforts to save global biodiversity. The USAID-funded West Africa Biodiversity and Climate Change Program (WA BiCC), in collaboration with a diverse set of partners, is organizing four side events to engage key stakeholders, including CITES Parties and the Secretariat, on efforts in West Africa on Combating Wildlife Trafficking (CWT). The side events will focus on policy development, capacity building, existing and potential partnerships and wildlife law enforcement tools and technologies.

There are three primary objectives for this event:

1) To present the successes of the CITES Master’s Course;

2) To engage Parties and Donors to help support the program into the future;

3) To provide an opportunity for past, present and future students to network.
