The Gola WABiCC project built on and advanced the past efforts of government, communities and partner organizations in the two countries to protect this unique landscape. With national parks already established on both sides of the border, this project supported and empowered local communities in key forest corridor areas and in areas of high conservation value outside the protected areas to establish community- managed forests, thereby becoming active stewards of the natural resources which underpin their livelihoods.
